100th Battalion and 442nd Combat Team

These two outstanding units of courageous, brave men had one motto: GO FOR BROKE. This meant that the soldiers went all-out for what they believed in. They tried their best in all they did for their country.

The United States declared these two courage units of little iron men to be the most decorated in World War II. This also clearly defends the argument of words, they are true Americans.

At site of Camp Amache The Denver Optimist Club bestowed a monument in honer of the thirty-one men who died in over seas fighting for our country. All of these soilders names are ingraved on the monument. This monument was ingraved with a formal saying in dedication to those who lived and died while at the camp.

AMACHE REMEMBERED) Dedicated to the thirty-one patriotic Japanese Americans who volunteered from Amache and dutifully gave thier lives in World War Two to the approximately seven thousand persons who where relocated at Amache and to the hundred and twenty who died there during this period of relocation. August 27, 1942-October 15, 1945

In World War II many Japanese-Americans who came from camp Amache voluntarily joined the armed forces to help fight against the Nazi and Japanese troops. There was already a Japanese-American platoon called the 100th Battalion. Thinking that Japanese-Americans would turn against the United States. The United States government didn't want the 100th Battalion to see action in overseas territory. However, the United States had no choice but to send the 100th Battalion to Italy to engage in war on Sept, 19 1943. 100th Battalion had many successful missions. These successful missions gave great expectations to the young Japanese-Americans. It also gave other relocated Japanese-Americans a chance to prove to themselves that they could be trusted. After more successful missions of the 100th Battalion the American government decided to make up another unit of Japanese-Americans; this was called the 442nd regimental Combat Team which was considered the baby brother of the 100th Battalion.
The 442nd engaged in war on June, 26 1944 in Rome. The 100th Battalion and 442nd Combat team at one time joined force to overcome World War II enemies. One major successful mission that stood out from the rest of the missions was,. The lost Battalion ( 141st Regiment and 36th Division) who had been surround by enemy lines for more than a week. The thirty-sixth Division was running low on ammunition and food. The 442nd Combat team was called upon to rescue this imprisoned Division by any means necessary. The 442nd maneuvered over landmines , between hidden- machine guns, and through lines of tanks which were firing upon them, at the end of this battle. More than 200 men were killed and 600 men were wounded. Total casualties exceeded the total number of men rescued. This was bloodiest battle ever of the 442nd Regimental Combat team.
